William A. Gordon
William A. Gordon was born and raised in Sanford, NC and graduated from Lee County Senior High School. In the spring of 2015, William graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Mount Olive with his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology. That fall, William moved to Greensboro, NC and enrolled at Elon University School of Law. At Elon Law, William was a three-time Dean’s list recipient, selected as an academic Dean’s Fellow, and chosen to compete on Elon Law’s Moot Court team.
In addition to his academic awards and honors, William served as a research assistant to Professor Tim McFarlin and aided in the authorship of two law review articles. Article topics included: 1) progressive techniques for persuasive legal writing, and 2) copyright infringement in the entertainment and music industries. In fulfilling his residency-in-practice requirement at Elon Law, William worked with the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office, where he drafted successful appellate briefs, adjudicated by the North Carolina Court of Appeals, and worked on issues related to eminent domain and just compensation.
During the summers of 2016 and 2017, William completed internships with Post | Foushee | Patton – Trial Lawyers. As an intern, William assisted supervising attorneys in the management of caseloads, from initial client intake through final disposition, in a variety of civil and criminal matters. William’s work focused primarily in areas of family law, employment law, personal injury, contractual disputes, and the suppression of evidence in criminal cases.
In December of 2017, William graduated Cum Laude from Elon University School of Law, and subsequently passed the February 2018 North Carolina Bar Examination. Outside of work, William is an ardent sports fan and enjoys spending time with friends and family. His interests include hunting, fishing, politics, and North Carolina history.
